As from January 2013 Maze Media will have a brand new home in the very heart of King’s Lynn town centre.

Due to Maze Media’s expansion and an ever-increasing client portfolio we felt the time was right to move our business to a larger, more accommodating premises. This will allow us to really push on into 2013 and the future.

The entire Second Floor of 21 Tuesday Market Place (formerly Barclay’s Bank and known historically as Hogge Mansion) is currently undergoing complete refurbishment and will become our new home in the New Year. Fraser Dawbarns Solicitors took possession of the Ground and First Floor earlier in the year.

With unrivalled views of the Tuesday Market Place to the front and River Great Ouse to the rear we are confident this will be one of the finest office suites in King’s Lynn – and we can’t wait to show you!

Contractors have been busy renovating the property for the past few months and it is now tantalising close to completion.

How does our move help our current and future clients?

Well, although we love our current home in the Greenland Fishery on Bridge Street, we have simply outgrown the space and feel too cramped to really operate and expand, as we would like to.

Moving premises means we will have much more space to work with, allowing us to think clearly, structure our work and engineer more fantastic ideas. The new spacious and incredibly light office will have dedicated suites for the designers (pictured below), developers, marketeers and accounts teams to thrive within. We will also boast a stunning meeting room that over-looks the bustling market place below. Trust me, even if you don’t want to work with us it is probably worthwhile arranging a meeting! Inspiration pours from every large space, high ceiling and magnificent view in this place.

With over twenty staff members we have swiftly become one of the largest provincial marketing and advertising agencies in East Anglia. We have been utterly overwhelmed by the demand for work from our humble little agency during this past year. Our dedicated, caring and hardworking attitude coupled with some of the most talented individuals around has undoubtedly fuelled this growth.

We hope to work with many more of you in 2013 and to those of you whom we already do, we hope our work will continue as normal during the move and ask politely for your patience should there be any unexpected hiccups!

Note: If you do visit us in January, the Maze entrance is down the alleyway between 21 Tuesday Market Place and the Corn Exchange.

Our full address will be;

We have been busy working on a new brand identity for PIL during the last few months, a company that provide membranes globally for garments, footwear and filtration products. We feel privileged and excited to be working with this locally based company who have had huge successes in national and international markets.

Living in the wonderfully wet and windy UK, we decided to centre the re-brand on the idea of British Weather Proof. The idea being that if it can withstand our harsh winters, you’re pretty much set for any other climate! We wanted a unique way of demonstrating to foreign markets what PIL are all about. Therefore we wanted something with broad appeal but would also get people talking. This works particularly well for PIL’s waterproof and breathable films company Porelle. Here we created posters for all of their Porelle market segments from sport to military, using photographs and a bold headline involving an individual person and how the Porelle layer in their clothing was helping them out.

These posters were just the beginning for our PIL Project. We also designed membrane holders and hangers to display the sample in a stylish but practical way. We also created insert sheets to display membrane examples, where people can see and touch them. We took a modern approach for these, coating them in raindrops set on a dark background. We also created signage and roller banners for Cinte Techtextil 2012, Asia’s leading trade fair for technical textiles. We were very excited to get involved with this huge international event! Using the British Weather Proof idea throughout, it created a real buzz around the stand.

We have also been working on stuff for other PIL brands Permair, PCL Ceramics, and Nanoflam so watch this space!

Halloween (or Hallowe’en if you’re being pedantic) is upon us already which can only mean one thing: Christmas is only 54 days away. Oh, and it also means we get to dress up like idiots at work.

Obviously we can’t all take part in this event, I mean, we’re scary enough without attending client meetings dressed as something from The Exorcist! Take a look at some of our spooktactular outfits…

I bet you can’t guess who this is! I’m not even sure the team page will help you work out who is behind this phenomenal mask of make-up. Although if you’re smart you’ll just look at the image file name… and you’ll therefore see that it is Robyn!

When web development gets all too much Rob likes to morph into this, er, thing.

This isn’t a member of staff, it is in fact just a carved pumpkin.

Here is Penny, stunned by the light in her ghoulish witch outfit. At least we hope it is an outfit.

Believe it or not there is actually someone in this photograph… take a close look and you’ll see that it is Nick!

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s Megan dressed as a spider. This is how she spent her evening by the way, sewing this together! That is dedication to the cause.

‘When Web Developers Go Mad!’ should be the name of this movie… it’s Paul underneath this grim mask!

This is another pumpkin. Pretty sure there isn’t anyone inside it.

And last but not least we have Ella. I think someone has been watching a little bit too much Twilight!

After grabbing lunch at possibly the most posh supermarket in existence (Partridges of Chelsea), our cultured crew of web developers, writers, designers and marketeers descended upon The Saatchi Gallery. After mistaking the gallery guide for what was in fact a wood-flooring brochure, we were ready to take in some much needed inspiration. We’re obviously a quirky and creative bunch, so you’d think the modern art on show at the gallery wouldn’t offer anything too shocking to us. But the gallery had some little tricks up its sleeve…

We were greeted with the anonymous portraits by Katy Grannan in the first room (above), where unusual subjects are photographed against the stark Californian sun. These are not young, conventionally beautiful bodies, but real people. Men in drag, elderly women dressed as Hollywood legends, androgynous figures in various states of undress. Certainly woke us up!!

A particular favourite amongst the Maze crew was Jon Rafman’s “The Nine Eyes of Google Street View”. This collection of Google street images are amusing, shocking and always thought provoking. Kaushal noted “Some of the images recorded in the war zones witness that there are places in the World where people live an ‘uncensored’ life, because their real life circumstances are censored from the rest-of-the world.” Some simply need to be seen to be believed! The power ranger taking a snooze on a park bench (above) was a humorous highlight.

The dramatic landscapes of David Benjamin Sherry’s “Ultimate Earth” (above) got our creative juices all a-flowing. Lots of us liked the merging of the vivid colours with the realism of the photographs. Dan liked the notion that “each colour was bright and vivid and in complete contrast to the colours that would be found in the environment featured”.

Something that blew everyone’s socks off was the installation “20:50” by Richard Wilson (above). What is exactly it was turned out to cause a bit of a debate amongst the maze team. Was it a mirror? A shiny floor? On closer inspection the smell of engine oil was overpowering. The room is entirely flooded with it. Standing on a platform, it appears to be an infinite reflective surface. Here since 1991, it is the gallery’s only permanent installation.

If you haven’t already been, make sure you get down to the Saatchi Gallery at some point. The current exhibitions do not fail to impress, as always.

It’s got our mind ticking away and thinking about opening our own exhibition…

We fancy ourselves as rich Russian billionaires, so we’ve taken a leaf out of Roman Abramovich’s book and got ourselves a football team. Only, we haven’t taken over a famous club, or bought any players, and we don’t intend on winning the Champions League. Instead, we have sponsored a local King’s Lynn Sunday League side, William Burt FC!

“Why?”, we hear you ask… well it is quite simple, our very own Nick Curtis plays for them.

We wanted desperately to redesign the entire kit and club colours, maybe coming up with something to rival the fantastically hideous Norwich City shirt of 1993…

But alas, we weren’t allowed to touch it with a barge pole. Our sponsorship looks nice, though.

We were allowed, however, to design a new badge for the club. The boys wanted something simple and strong that resembles the ‘norm’ when it comes to football club badges. They also wanted to depict their famous underdog victory in the cup final last year. So we gave them the British Bull Dog protecting their cup, with the customary winners star to kick it all off.

One of the biggest brands we have the privilege of working on is Adrian Flux, specialist insurance brokers. Over the last 35 years their company has grown into a small giant, housing over 600 staff members in East Winch on the outskirts of King’s Lynn.

During the past few months we have been busy creating and rolling out their new brand identity, we like to think of it as “The Blue & Orange Invasion”. Adrian Flux’s print adverts appear in hundreds of magazines and publications nationwide so we’ve used bold as brass colours to take an otherwise jejune market place by storm.

Everything from advertising (both on and offline) to promotional items and company literature to event branding has been drenched with the blue and orange paint brush. We really wanted to create a powerful presence for Adrian Flux, whose market is namely aimed at enthusiasts who know their stuff. This is why we take great care in how each bespoke piece of artwork looks.

As you’ll no doubt spot, we have used various graphic outlines of cars, buildings and objects to further improve the brand identity. Each individual example is a piece of artwork in its own right. Seriously, we’re thinking of getting some blown up and framed!

If you’ve read this far then it is time you found out about the new Adrian Flux website, too. It’s not easy designing and building a website that hosts thousands upon thousands of web pages. But here we are, it’s live and we’re happy… well, almost. You have to remember that launching a new website is not the end of the project. It is just the start.

Take a look at the new Adrian Flux website and let us know what you think!
